Active Release Technique® (ART) is a fast, non-invasive, and effective healing approach that is movement-based and can benefit everyone.   During each session, your chiropractic physician will perform an examination that will guide the specific protocol, targeting the soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves) that has been injured.  The ART approach uses your movement to create tension on scar tissue or adhesions. Unlike massage or other myofascial release techniques, ART has over 500 specific protocols to treat affected areas of the body near the spine or in the extremities.  Often, you will find pain and movement dysfunction from minor injuries can be treated in 6 visits or less.  Occasionally, with more chronic or repeated, overuse injuries, you may need more prolonged application of the ART technique as part of your treatment plan.

Being treated with ART can help you return to sport/pre-injury function sooner. During treatment, our chiropractors use their hands to apply specific pressure on fibrous adhesions while you move through a directed range in order to treat motion restrictions you may have developed and reestablish proper movement between muscles and fascia. You will feel greater flexibility and ease of motion after the proper amount of myofascial (muscle and fascia) and neural (nerves) glide is restored.  This will allow you to move with less pain and with better mechanics.  The technique can be safely used on all patients with acute, chronic, overuse, repetitive strain injuries and postoperative cases of all types.
